Privacy Policy
Effective Date: June 29, 2025
1. Introduction
Obris ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website, Chrome extension, and any associated services (collectively, the "Service"). Please read this policy carefully.
2. Definitions
A "knowledge item" is a piece of content you save using Obris. Each knowledge item consists of the text you selected (or the page content you chose to save), the source URL, a timestamp, and the topic you assign it to. A "topic" is a user-created folder for organizing knowledge.
3. Information We Collect
We may collect information about you in the following ways:
Account Data
Information you provide when creating an account, such as your name, email address, and password.
Derivative Data
Information our servers automatically collect, such as IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and timestamps.
Knowledge
When you use the Obris Chrome extension to save a knowledge item, we store it as defined in Section 2. This content originates from third-party websites and is saved solely at your direction for your personal use. Obris does not claim ownership of any content you save. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to save and use the content you capture.
Chrome Extension Data
The Obris Chrome extension requires permission to read content on the active tab when you initiate a save. The extension does not passively monitor, collect, or transmit any browsing data. It only accesses page content when you explicitly trigger a save action.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your user account
- Store and organize your knowledge by topic
- Make your knowledge available to AI platforms you choose to connect (see Section 6 for details)
- Improve and maintain the Service’s functionality and user experience
- Respond to support inquiries
- Comply with legal obligations
5. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:
- Trusted third-party service providers (e.g., for cloud hosting, email delivery, analytics)
- Law enforcement or regulators when required by law
- AI platforms you explicitly connect, as described in Section 6
6. AI Platform Integrations
Obris allows you to make your knowledge available as context in AI conversations on platforms like Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini. You configure this by connecting your AI tool to the Obris MCP server or equivalent integration. When you do:
- Your AI tool retrieves knowledge from Obris on demand within your own session — Obris does not proactively push your data to any third party, and no platform-wide access to your data is granted
- Only knowledge you have saved is made available; no other account data is shared
- Each platform’s own privacy policy governs how it processes the data it retrieves
- You can disconnect any integration at any time by removing the connection in your AI tool’s settings
7. Shared Topics
Obris may offer shared topics that allow multiple users to access the same set of knowledge. If you participate in a shared topic, knowledge within that topic will be visible to all topic members. You should only save content to shared topics that you are comfortable sharing with other members.
8. Use of Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to improve the Service experience. These help us understand how users interact with our products and enable certain functionality like session persistence.
9. Data Storage and Processing
Your data is stored and processed on servers located in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to having your data transferred to and processed in the United States.
10. Data Retention
We retain your account data and knowledge only as long as necessary to provide the Service or comply with legal obligations. You can delete individual knowledge items or entire topics at any time, or request full account deletion by contacting us at privacy@obris.ai.
11. Security
We implement reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your data. While no system is 100% secure, we regularly review and improve our security practices.
12. Do-Not-Track (DNT) Signals
Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems include a Do-Not-Track ("DNT") setting to signal your privacy preferences. We do not currently respond to DNT signals as there is no universally accepted standard for doing so.
13. Your Rights and Choices
You may:
- Access and update your account information
- Delete individual knowledge items or entire topics
- Disconnect AI platform integrations at any time
- Uninstall the Chrome extension at any time
- Request full account and data deletion
- Contact us to ask questions or exercise rights under applicable laws
If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to request its deletion. If you are located in the European Economic Area, you may have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, correct, or erase your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@obris.ai.
14. Children’s Privacy
We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we become aware that we’ve inadvertently collected such data, we will delete it.
